Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

501stCast: Episode 87 touches on the Star Wars costume exhibit in Seattle, troop reports, the Disney Star Wars Half-Marathon (including a mention of the BB-8 cosplayers, ie. Rich and Sarah from Skywalker Through Neverland), and Star Wars Celebration Anaheim news and info.

Assembly of Geeks:Remembering Leonard Nimoy” features guests Lauren Gallaway and Kayla LaFrance as they share comments from Star Trek’s cast and crew on the passing of Leonard Nimoy, they play audio clips from Leonard, reveal the story behind the hand gesture, talk about his music, his books and their favorite Spock moments. It’s a touching farewell to an icon.

Coffee With Kenobi: Rebels Reactions “Rebel Resolve” features guest Darth Taxus as they cover the penultimate episode of Star Wars Rebels season one. It’s a pretty good review of the characters and themes of the episode.

Disney Vault Talk: 101 Dalmatians episode starts off with some listener feedback, one of which is a pretty serious criticism of the show, one which I don’t agree with. I thinks shows are better when the hosts are themselves. You can’t force the magic. If you try to be something you aren’t, you’ll burn out fast. Other listener feedback includes Disney tips, lack of princess diversity and favorite live action films. In their “Disney Watch” segment, they cover Girl Meets World, Pirates of the Caribbean casting news and the new Frozen short. Then they get into 101 Dalmatians, from tons of trivia and background info to their favorite parts of the movie. They compare the animated film to the live action film, talk about the minimal use of songs, and the possible influence of Home Alone. All in all, a fun episode.

Full of Sith: Episode CIV kicks off with a farewell to Leonard Nimoy as Bryan, Bobby and Amy talk about an icon of sci-fi. Afterwards they switch gears and share their thoughts on the second half of Star Wars Rebels, the episode “Rebel Resolve”, and their thoughts on what might happen in the season finale. Capping the show off is an interview with Del Rey editor Shelly Shapiro who talks about Heir to the Jedi, working with the story group, doing canon stories, and being the editor for the Star Wars adult novel line. It’s a good interview and worth checking out.

Special Release: Rebels Reaction features Mike, Bryan and Amy sharing their thoughts after watching the season finale of Star Wars Rebels. They delve into full spoilers and give some emotional responses. It’s a fun episode and a quick one.

Hyperspace Theories: Episode #6 focuses on Simon Kinberg. They cover they movies he’s written for like Mr. & Mrs. Smith, X-Men: Last Stand, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, as well as his production work on movies like Chappie, Cinderella and X-Men. They talk about his open mindedness toward suggestions, his thoughts on fan fiction, his ability to work with expectations and restrictions and much more. Afterwards they talk about path dependency and how the new Star Wars canon stories will help set the path for stories to come. It’s a neat concept and one worth further examination. They get into some spoilers for Darth Vader #1. Later, they talk about some of Mark Hamill’s recent comments on the character of Luke Skywalker, and what size of role Luke will have in the sequels, and finally Luke plot bunnies.

Jedi Journals: March 2015 episode features guests Shelly Shapiro and Erich Schoeneweiss as they talk a little about Heir to the Jedi, Lords of the Sith, Dark Disciple, working with the story group and canon. Shelly had some interesting comments about the change in language of the Star Wars universe in the books. As they move into their usual books, comics and magazine coverage, Erich sticks around for some fun discussion. When they got to Star Wars Insider, Erich provided some insight on the short stories by Jason Fry and John Jackson Miller. There’s some good stuff in this episode.

Rebels Report:Rebel Resolve” episode features Pete, Andy and Kale as they get into an entertaining discussion of the episode of Star Wars Rebels, from the murdering droid that is Chopper, to Ezra’s deal with the devil and speculation on what’s to come.

Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 37 covers some Star Wars Celebration Anaheim stuff, updates on the book club, then heads into a nice review of Rebel Heist and Jason Fry’s Servants of the Empire: Edge of Rebellion. Interesting to hear it’s a very sports heavy book. Plus they talk a little about Darth Vader #1. Overall, fun episode.

Star Wars Collectors Cast: Episode #8 is their Toy Fair episode. They talk with Gus Lopez about his collection focus, the goals and direction for his website, how it’s evolved, and Star Wars Celebration Anaheim which will have 20 collecting panels. Then Mark and James get into Toy Fair. They cover LEGO, the Hasbro presentation, Blade Builders, Hero Mashers and Furbacca. James rated the presentation a 1 out of 10 which says a lot, though he did tease that what Hasbro couldn’t show will make up for it. They talk about what was on display at Hasbro’s booth, other Star Wars items on display elsewhere like Ruby’s costumes, Revel, Geekware, Uncle Milton and more.

Star Wars Rebels Declassified: Rebel Resolve” features Jimmy, Jason, Erich Schoeneweiss and Teresa Delgado as they talk about the episode of Star Wars Rebels. They speculate on Fulcrum, Mustafar, the role of the Rebels, the scope of their mission, and the importance of Lothal.

Fire Across the Galaxy” covers the season finale for Star Wars Rebels. However, it kicks off with a great interview with Ashley Eckstein as she talks about keeping Fulcrum a secret, voicing Ahsoka again and working on Star Wars Rebels. Then Jimmy, Jason, Kyle Newman and F.J. DeSanto break down the season finale covering the lack of Mustafar, the Inquisitor’s fate, Fulcrum’s identity, flaws in the way Sabine is being handled, the possibility of this being the Rebels’ first victory against the Empire, where the crew of the Ghost will be going from here, and how much of a role Vader will be playing in season two.

Star Wars Report: Episode #158 features guest Stephen Stanton as they talk Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and James Luceno’s Tarkin. Stephen gives some excellent insight on the creation of Vader, thoughts on the clones and the stormtroopers and much more. It’s a great conversation and, with some of the topics Stephen covers, one you won’t want to miss.
